Fun at Berwick upon Tweed Family History Fair!

Two of us attended the Family and Local History Fair in Berwick Upon Tweed at the weekend organised by Friends of Berwick Upon Tweed Record Office and Linda Bankier, the Archivist there.
It was a great event with stalls from Local and Family History organisations, Archaeological societies and Archive Offices like us. With over 900 people on the first day we had our work cut out talking to people and advising them on how we could help with their research from the Scottish Borders resources. It was great to see colleagues from the Borders Family History Society, Duns Historical Society, Coldstream Historical Society, Ayton Historical Society representing the Scottish Borders!
One of the really useful aspects of the event was that it was cross Border so both Scottish and English resources and research were being discussed. There were a number of talks on both days and I did one on the resources we hold and interesting stories from the archive that have been found through doing some of the detective work!
I hope more of these events will be held in the future - it was great fun!
